Program Overview
Our program is structured on a seven-year foundation of dance training that focuses on ballet and modern dance, as well as an extensive variety of dance styles, to provide students with the skills and versatility to excel in performing any range of dance genres. The goal of our Dance & Drama Program is to create opportunities for students who want to pursue a career in dance or dance-related fields by challenging them artistically, intellectually, and physically as young artists. Our graduates become well-rounded candidates for prestigious programs at top colleges and universities as well as immediate opportunities in commercial dance work.
Audition RequirementsDegree & diplomas
In our 4-year dance program—leading to a bachelor of fine arts degree—students learn the great traditions of both past and present. We develop artists who are trained in ballet, modern, and contemporary dance techniques. The following outline shows the required distribution of credits by year for the four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree program in Dance.
Our dancers have the ability to speak many dance languages and are grounded in ballet, modern, and contemporary techniques. They are creative thought leaders who can deconstruct those techniques and develop original artistic voices to answer challenging questions through music, movement, and scholarly exploration.
