Welcome to our nationally recognized architecture and design department! Our program offers a comprehensive curriculum that prepares students for careers in architectural design, urban planning, and the built environment through hands-on studio work, technical training, and real-world project experience.
Program Overview
Our program is structured on a seven-year foundation of architectural design training that focuses on technical drafting and conceptual design, as well as an extensive variety of architectural styles and building systems, to provide students with the skills and versatility to excel in any range of design challenges. The goal of our Architecture Program is to create opportunities for students who want to pursue a career in architecture or design-related fields by challenging them creatively, intellectually, and technically as young designers. Our graduates become well-rounded candidates for prestigious programs at top colleges and universities as well as immediate opportunities in architectural firms and design studios.
Audition RequirementsDegree & diplomas
In our 4-year architecture program—leading to a bachelor of fine arts degree—students learn the great traditions of both classical and contemporary design. We develop architects who are trained in technical drafting, 3D modeling, and sustainable design principles. The following outline shows the required distribution of credits by year for the four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree program in Architecture.
Our architects have the ability to speak many design languages and are grounded in technical drafting, sustainable design, and contemporary building techniques. They are creative thought leaders who can deconstruct those techniques and develop original design voices to answer challenging questions through spatial planning, structural innovation, and scholarly exploration.
